A Sunday In Hell: Paris-Roubaix 1976
Sweat, blood and, not uncommonly, broken bones and bike frames. This is Paris-Roubaix. This is the hell of the north. Quite a few say: Only those who have completed this race at least once in their lives are real racing cyclists. Today, April 12, 2020, the 118th Paris – Roubaix should have taken place. But because the corona virus is throwing a spanner in the works, we look back exactly 44 years. It's 1976. The Dane Jørgen Leth accompanies the spectacular bike race with his camera team. Included are sizes like Eddy Merckx, Francesco Moser, Roger De Vlaeminck, Walter Godefroot and Jan Raas - but after a driving time of more than six and a half hours, an outsider should win in the person of Marc Demeyer.
