Cycling: Today or yesterday Jonasrutsch celebrated his 22nd birthday. Unfortunately it didn't work out with a win for him and his team EF Pro Cycling. On the contrary: two teammates even fell shortly before the finish. Nevertheless, Jonasrutsch could look forward to a serenade in the evening.
Jonas slip: “Unfortunately, it got to us”
Hey people. I had my hands full yesterday. That's why I'm only getting in touch now. It's morning here and I'm going to get coffee. Yesterday was beautiful so far. In the morning I invited the guys to have a coffee before the stage. It was a bit early, but that's the way it is as a professional cyclist. You have to see where you are with your time, how you plan it and how you divide it up.
Then it was off to the stage. She was very hectic and nervous all day. There was a wind edge, so that many ran more or less hot as a result. So there was real tension in the field the whole time. Nobody wanted to miss anything. Unfortunately, we got caught in a crash with Mitchell Docker and Jens Keukeleire four kilometers from the finish. Both are important elements of the sprint train for us. Luckily I stayed on the bike. After that I tried to drive Tom Scully and Kristoffer Halvorsen up front. But that didn't really work out then. But the wind was just too strong. With that, our stage was sealed.
Jonas slip: "...suddenly the door opened"
There was a nice surprise last night. In our team, someone has to give a presentation every evening. I already have mine. Yesterday it was Mitch's turn. The content of the presentation is almost always that you introduce your national tour team ... with sponsors, at least two active drivers and two drivers who have already retired as well as two sport directors. The bike brand, the clothing brand and the main sponsor are also included. This is simply to get to know each other better. And, yes...Mitch was at his lecture yesterday when the door suddenly opened. Then the whole staff came in and serenaded me again - and then there was cake.
So from that point of view I had a pretty nice birthday too.
Best regards,
your Jonas!
