Cycling: Possibly the most boring stage of the 2019 Tour de France ended today with a win for Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo – Visma). The Dutchman was able to prevail in the mass sprint in front of Caleb Ewan (Lotto - Soudal) and Peter Sagan (Bora - hansgrohe).
Tour de boredom
230,0 almost flat kilometers had to be completed today on the seventh stage of the Tour de France from Belfort to Chalon-sur-Saône. Despite three small climbs in the first half of the race, it was actually clear before the start that the day's winner would be determined by a mass sprint. Accordingly - we have to say it so clearly - the stage was boring. With Stephane Rossetto (Cofidis) and Yoann Offredo (Wanty – Gobert) two pilots broke away from the peloton early on. With no one else wanting to be in the break, they had to ride alone upwind all day. As expected, the peloton easily picked up the two before the finish line.
Groenewegen reports back
In the last kilometers we got to see the usual scenario before a mass sprint. Many battles for positions made for a nervous peloton. Luckily, everyone got off lightly today. The Deceuninck – Quick-Step team was again the most dominant in the last 500 meters. Yes leaders Elia Viviani didn't seem to have the best legs today. Some professionals passed him. Presented the fastest today Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo - Visma). He fell on the first stage, but today he's cheering Caleb ewan (Lotto – Soudal) and Peter Sagan (Bora – hansgrohe). Tomorrow the Tour de France should be a little more exciting again. The section then leads over numerous mountain classifications and an almost exclusively wavy profile overall. Then the chances for the escapees are much better than today.
For some centimeters, for Groenewegen it is the ganador of the stage 7 of the Tour de Francia 2019 by the guests of Caleb Ewan and Peter Sagan. #TDF #TDF2019 #TDF19 #TourRTVE # TourRTVE12J pic.twitter.com/VE1aBhQFmq
