Cavagna confidently asserts himself in front of the peloton
Breakaway victory at the Tour of California. On the 208-kilometer stage from Stockton to Morgan Hill, six climbs had to be completed. It turned out to be part of the leading group Remi Cavagna (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) as the clearly strongest professional. Accordingly, he left his companions relatively early with an attack and carried out his plan as a soloist. The peloton couldn't catch the talented French either. Eventually he was allowed to go, so he crossed the finish line with a lead of over seven minutes. Simon Geschke (CCC) was behind BenKing (Dimension Data) third parties. But it remains in the overall standings Tejay Van Garderen (EF Education First) continues to lead. Maximilian schachmann (Bora – hansgrohe) remains fifth, 22 seconds behind.
Bravo @remicav ! Partir seul à 76km de l'arrivée, gravir le Mont Hamilton sans perdre de temps et tenir jusqu'à l'arrivée. Great number! 💪🏼 #Amgentoc #LesRP pic.twitter.com/jcyMXhXG4L
