Leaderboard / Test: Aerobikes have become increasingly popular on the road in recent years. Almost every manufacturer now has an aero bike as a top model and the pros also rely on the fast speedsters on almost any terrain. Just in time for the beginning of spring we have a new list of the best for you with nine classy aerobikes with disc brakes.
When it came to aero wheels, it quickly became clear to us that we didn't want to set a maximum price for our test field. The reason: Quite simply because we also wanted to have the real top models with us. So it also happens that the most expensive bike costs almost 12.000 euros, more than twice as much as the cheapest model.
But can such a cheaper bike keep up with the high-quality models or do you have to dig a lot deeper into your pocket to get a really good bike? To find out, we drove over the Brenner Pass when there was still snow and did extensive testing for you in South Tyrol. Here we could of course find the best conditions with flat and mountainous passages as well as fast descents to put the completeness of the bikes to the test. With nine disc models in a wide range of equipment variants with mechanical or electronic groupsets, a wide variety of wheel sets with different rim heights and various systems for aerodynamic optimization, there was a lot of interesting things. Another special feature of the aerobikes was certainly the different concepts for combining speed, rigidity and comfort. Be curious who did it best...
At the top of our list of the best is the inexpensive Giant Propel. You can find out here whether it can keep up with the other models or even be at the forefront.
Test: Giant Propel Advanced Pro Disc - Sporty aero racer with a price war
In the next two weeks we will regularly present a new aero bike and show you what's really in the bikes. As always, in addition to an overall winner, there will also be a price-performance rating in order to be able to classify the enormous price differences.
