Cycling: The first two wildcards for the 2019 Tour de France have been awarded. As announced by the OSA, the teams Cofidis and Wanty – Groupe Gobert will also be at the start in France this season. The other two wildcard teams will be announced at a later date.
Cofidis and Wanty – Groupe Gobert deserved the invitation
The 106th Tour de France will be held from July 6th to 28th. In honor of Eddy Merckx, the professional cyclists start in Belgium's capital, Brussels. It was therefore not surprising that the Belgian team Wanty – Groupe Gobert was invited again this year. In previous events, the aggressive team attracted attention with an offensive driving style - and that's exactly what the organizers and fans want to see. The Cofidis team is just as active year after year. But in addition to the interesting driving styles of the teams, the results also provided good arguments. After all, the Belgian team won the overall ranking of the Europe Tour last season ahead of the French.
Rendez-vous en Juillet pour notre 23ème Grande Boucle 😍 Très heureux de vous advertiser que nous participerons à la 106ème édition du @LeTour ! Merci ASO for the confiance and the invitation ✌️

André Greipel is still waiting for the wildcard confirmation
Thanks to the invitation of Wanty – Groupe Gobert, the spectators will be able to see the French classification driver Guillaume Martin again this season. The Italian sprinter Andrea Pasqualon finished in the top 10 several times and should also be nominated. For the 2019 Tour de France, the Cofidis team management will again have to choose between their two sprinters, Nacer Bouhanni and Christophe Laporte. It is not yet clear whether André Greipel and Warren Barguil will take part in the Grand Boucle with their team Arkea – Samsic. The Direct Energie team has not yet received a firm commitment either. The two teams based in France should probably be the best cards for the remaining places.
