Product news: BMX meets mountain bike - hardly any other bike conveys the harmonious fusion of these two very different worlds as obviously as the SE Bikes OM Duro. With this extraordinary bike, the American cult manufacturer SE Bikes pays homage to one of the most important people in BMX history: "Old Man" Scot Breithaupt.
BMX sport would be unthinkable without SE Bikes or SE Racing, as the cult forge was called before 2002. Legendary BMX models like the Quadangle, PK Ripper or OM Flyer still give die-hard fans goosebumps today. Like no other brand, SE Bikes is still committed to the BMX segment: Every year, the Retro Line is lovingly expanded with new bikes that combine old-school design with the latest technology. With the OM Duro, SE Bikes has created a 27,5+ bike dedicated to the company founder "Old Man" Scot Breithaupt, who died in 2015. The legendary SE Bikes Flyer served as a model, which was pimped and given a radical upgrade with some fat parts.
The heart of the SE Bike OM Duro is the frame made of Cr-Mo - the steel from which BMX dreams are forged. Of course, a SE Bikes Landing Gear fork is used, which – how could it be otherwise – is also made of Cr-Mo. More BMX tradition is not really possible! Parts such as the mechanical Avid BB5 disc brake and the 10-speed SRAM GX gearshift complete the bridge to mountain biking. The SE Bikes OM Duro is not only at home on BMX tracks and in urban environments, but also on trails. The fat 27.5″ x 3.0″ tires provide cushioning, greater driving comfort and extra grip. Of course, the BMX-typical upholstery should not be missing on this bike - after all, tradition obliges! The OM Duro, which weighs around 17 kilograms, is available at a price of 899 euros.
