Spectrum: Dana and Alex from near Hanau started their dream of a trip around the world a year ago with a special request. The two Hessians have been traveling with their tandem since August 2017, the aim is to support the fight against blood cancer. For every kilometer covered, a donation euro is to be collected for the DKMS. An action that everyone can actively support.
The two tandem drivers covered more than 20.000 km in 19 countries. From Germany, Dana and Alex cycled through Europe, Southeast Asia, New Zealand, the USA and Scandinavia back home. In her blog www.mein-tandem-du-und-ich.de the two cyclists talk about their personal experiences. The Hessians combine the adventure around the world with a good cause: Every kilometer covered should bring the DKMS a valuable donation euro for the fight against blood cancer. With the tandem, Dana and Alex have broken the 20.000 mark, but unfortunately the donations are still a little short of reaching the goal. Now, shortly before reaching home, the donation clock stands at just over 17.000 euros. “This trip was our personal dream. If we can help others on top of that, that's an extra that we're very happy to actively support. We have previously registered as stem cell donors and also experienced in our personal environment that someone fell ill with blood cancer. We know how important this cause is and want to help raise as many funds as possible for the fight against blood cancer.”
