Cycling: The Tour de France 2018 offered the spectators great pictures and an exciting race. Social media also got down to business for three weeks. We have compiled the best Tour de France tweets for you.
Burghardt & Sagan make two little fans happy
After the 13th stage of the Tour de France, Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) was allowed to be on the podium twice again. First he was honored as a stage winner, then for the green jersey. The three-time world champion knows the procedure after crossing the finish line very well. Nevertheless, the Slovak made time for two small fans in the team bus after the race. Team colleague Marcus Burghardt spotted the world champion's fans and promptly invited them to the team bus.

Mega atmosphere in the Dutch Corner after Alpe d'Huez
The Dutch Corner is to Dutch cycling fans what their fan corner is to football fans. Up to Alpe d'Huez, the spectators dressed in orange always besiege "their" bend. Of course, the riders also enjoy the great atmosphere, but above all the fans themselves. Even the cyclist Annemiek Van Vleuten insisted on having a beer as a fan and watching in the Dutch Corner. The result was one of the most stirring Tour de France tweets of the year.
Drinking beer with Van Vleuten, #Kruijswijk omhoog roar, #Dumoulin toezingen... 🍻🚵

Sagan takes time for the beautiful side of life
Every fan dreams of it: You stand at the edge of the track and Peter Sagan drives right in front of your lens. But as soon as you press the shutter button, the world champion turns away. Is that why he and his wife split up during the Tour de France? Probably not.
Almost got a great photo of @petosagan until he was distracted by something more attractive... #tdf #alpesdhuez pic.twitter.com/BC7VpLWfQB

Water carrier Julian Alaphilippe
Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors) can look back on a successful Tour de France. In addition to a stage win and the mountain jersey, he is also responsible for one of the funniest Tour de France tweets. In the aid zone, he took a look at the bag he had got hold of. He didn't seem to need the drink. So he promptly gave it to the cameraman.
Sometimes cameramen need a drink too, thanks @alafpolak 👌
Parfois les cameras also soif, merci Julian Alaphilippe ! 👌#TDF2018 pic.twitter.com/jiNKowY3Im— Le Tour de France (@LeTour) July 19, 2018
Lawson Craddock raises over $100.000
Lawson Craddock (EF Education) can definitely be described as unlucky in the first stage. The American fell directly and broke his shoulder blade. Instead of giving up, he raised a huge fundraiser with one of the best Tour de France tweets of 2018. More than 100.000 euros came about for his home velodrome.
A broken scapula and a few stitches is not how I wanted to start @LeTour, but this Texan will fight as much as I can to continue. I will donate $100 to the @AlkekVelodrome for Harvey relief for every stage that I can finish. Anyone care about matching? @JJWatt @HoustonTexans pic.twitter.com/Hmd1qVNqHT

One flew over the leading group
Right at the beginning of the Tour de France, there were some bad crashes in the peloton. Fortunately, a spectator's stunt went well. With a mountain bike, the fan jumped off a hill right over the leading group passing below him.

Friends in strange jerseys
Many cycling fans love their sport because it is held fairly among each other. While other sports promote fair play but don't practice it themselves, cycling sets a good example. We saw this from Andrey Amador (Movistar), among others. The Costa Rican was caught by the peloton on stage 19. After a hard day's work over several mountain passes, that's definitely a reason to be disappointed and angry. But the likeable Andrey Amador instead empties his pockets and offers the contents to his opponents - who have just caught up with him.

Thomas has tried on yellow before
Nobody would have expected that Geraint Thomas (Sky) would win the Tour de France this year before the start of the Tour of France. But he always dreamed of it as a little boy. An attentive Twitter user was able to prove this with an old photo. You can see – of course in the yellow jersey – Geraint Thomas next to Ben Swift (UAE Team Emirates). Behind it is Stephen Roche.

Andrea Pasqualon is certain: Italy will be soccer world champion
In the first part of the Tour de France, the tour overlapped with the football World Cup in Russia. So there were - especially between Belgium and France - interesting and funny incidents. However, we spotted the funniest Tour de France tweet on the subject on Andrea Pasqualon's (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) Twitter account. He was also given the sign, but his testimony was doomed to fail from the start. After all, Andrea Pasqualon is Italian...
Not sure about that @AndreaPasqualon 😅⚽ 🇮🇹

The winner has the last word: Vive le Tour
Geraint Thomas won the 2018 Tour de France. In Paris he gave a short but entertaining speech. At the end he speaks the words "Vive le Tour" and drops the microphone on the floor - a classic micdrop.
