Cycling: Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data) will start the 2018 season later than originally planned. The Norwegian had to undergo surgery to have his gallbladder removed.
The gallbladder was defective
There are not too many stars in the South African cycling team Dimension Data. In addition to Mark Cavendish, there are above all Louis Meintjes – and of course Edvald Boasson Hagen. The fact that the Norwegian is not available as planned is all the more bitter. The 30-year-old actually wanted to start at the Tour of Valencia on January 31st. Due to an operation, he now has to postpone this project. He had his defective gallbladder removed.
Edvald Boasson Hagen: "There's no reason to walk around with a defective gallbladder. I still think I'll get to the classics well."
Boasson Hagen starts at the Tour of Algarve
Since the Tour de France stage winner was unable to train fully for a few days due to the operation, he will not start his 14 season until February 2018 at the Tour of Algarve. Meanwhile, one of his teammates is attracting attention in Australia. In the Tower Down Under the only 22-year-old Nicholas Dlamini put on his mountain jersey. On Stage #1 and on Stage #2 the South African slipped into the breakaway group and won both mountain classifications.
