MTB Cycling / Everyone: Bad News for Enduro One Series Fans! As the series promoter Baboons just informed us, that has to be for the 12th/13th. August planned races at Dünsberg are canceled. According to the report, the authorities in the area prohibit any driving outside of wide paths.
The news from Baboons reached our editorial team with a bang. After successful events in recent years, the Enduro One race at Dünsberg has to be cancelled. A completely surprising turnaround for both the organizers and the mountain bike fans. Originally, the race was part of the Enduro One series for the 12th/13th. planned Aug. According to the promoter, the Hessian authorities (Lower Forestry Authority - HessenForst, Lower Nature Conservation Authority and HessenARCHÄOLOGY) have declared the area to be an archaeological monument particularly worthy of protection. Any driving outside of wide paths is now prohibited in this area. This was communicated to the organizer AMC Rodheim-Bieber in a letter dated July 14, 2017.
Does the Dünsberg have to be removed from the maps as a mountain bike area?
All arguments and interventions against the authorities were completely unsuccessful. Even the hint that there had already been successful - and above all approved - events fell on deaf ears. Even alternative stages were not accepted by the authorities. A serious setback not only for the racing series, but also for mountain biking in this region. Series promoter Baboons explains that the search for a new spot for the Enduro One series for this season is already in full swing. All entry fees already paid for the event at Dünsberg would of course be refunded.
Last year around 350 mountain bikers took part in the Enduro One race on the Dünsberg. The participants praised the high-class course and the great commitment of the organizer AMC Rodheim-Bieber and the race director Thomas Gerlach. Unfortunately, the race at Dünsberg is now history! If no new date or spot is found, only two races remain open in the 2017 Enduro One racing season: Ochsenkopf (26th/27th August) and Wipperfürth (07th/08th October).
