As the largest wheel manufacturer in the world, Giant has some interesting components and accessories on offer. We also know and like helmets and backpacks. But this is about the Contact SL Switch telescopic support. It shines as a miracle of variability.

The support is also one of the easily mountable ones. One reason for this is the use of an ordinary shift housing with a Bowden cable. There is a flexible outlet on the lever that makes it easier to find the right position. It is worth mentioning that the Contact SL Switch can be rebuilt. You can control them below, internally in the frame or on top of the clamping head. This works relatively quickly and easily. The lever is also easy to attach, the saddle clamp has proven itself.
Giant Contact SL Switch: Processing
There is little to complain about. The surfaces are very valuable across the board and appear to be of very good quality. Nothing has too much play or rattles, the screws used are flawless. Even when dismantling and converting the support, with a look at the inner workings, this impression remains. Only a smarter lever is missing for a top value.
Giant Contact SL Switch: Function
Last year, the bicycle giant surprised everyone with its first dropper post and quickly made a name for itself among bargain hunters. The comparatively cheap support made an inconspicuous and reliable impression. The extension speed is just right for our taste, the quite voluminous clamping head holds the saddle securely and is gentle on the material.
The option to control the support from above as well as from below is a really good thing. So it fits on many bikes and even if the bike needs to be changed, it can usually be taken over. The conversion is also easy to do by anyone with some technical understanding.
We weren't quite as impressed with the included remote: It can only be operated with significant effort, the feedback from the support itself is rather spongy. The placement is also somewhat difficult due to the space-intensive cable outlet, which tends to collide with the brake lever.
