Tour de France 2016 Stage #1: Mont-Saint-Michel – Utah Beach
Date: Saturday, 2th of July 2016
Length: 188km
Category: flat stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 14:30 p.m. – 17:40 p.m
Editor's tip: The start this year is a flat stage from Mont-Saint-Michel to Utah Beach. A great opportunity for the sprinters to be the first driver in 2016 to wear the Maillot Jaune. Marcel Kittel (Etixx – Quick-Step) and André Greipel (Lotto Soudal) are certainly waiting for their opportunity.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #2: Saint Lo – Cherbourg-Octeville
Date: Sunday, 3th July 2016
Length: 182km
Category: flat/wavy
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 15:00 p.m. – 17:45 p.m
Editor's tip: The flat/wavy profile of the second stage should be a case for the punchers thanks to the crisp final climb, but one or two sprinters should also be able to calculate their chances. Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) is likely to start as the top favourite.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #3: Grandville – Angers
Date: Monday, 4th July 2016
Length: 222km
Category: flat stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: Day three of the 2016 Tour offers the sprinters another opportunity to claim a prestigious stage win. The 222 km long stage offers few difficulties and the slightly uphill finale should not pose any problems for the pros.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #4: Saumur – Limoges
Date: Tuesday, 5th July 2016
Length: 232km
Category: flat/wavy
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: An interesting stage awaits on day 4. After a flat 150km it becomes increasingly bumpy and we could observe one or more breakaway attempts here, which can certainly raise hopes of winning the day.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #5: Limoges – Le Lioran
Date: Wednesday, 6th July 2016
Length: 216km
Category: Mountain Stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: The first smaller test is already waiting for the classification drivers in the field. The second half of the stage is challenging with five categorized climbs and the mountain finish could put a few seconds lag.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #6: Arpajon-sur-Cère - Montauban
Date: Thursday, 7th July 2016
Length: 187km
Category: wavy
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: Today is one of the best opportunities for a successful breakaway. A difficult wavy profile favors the escape group(s) and in view of the difficult stages that follow, many riders and teams will save their strength today.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #7: L'Isle-Jourdain – Lac de Payolle
Date: Friday, 8th July 2016
Length: 162km
Category: Mountain Stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 15:10 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: At the end of the first week of the tour, the first big highlight awaits: the Col d'Aspin. The end of the stage is seven kilometers after the summit and the descent may offer drivers who have been left behind another opportunity to shorten the distance.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #8: Pau – Bagnères-de-Luchon
Date: Saturday, 9. July
Length: 183km
Category: Mountain Stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 14:00 p.m. – 17:35 p.m
Editor's tip: Now it's time for the classification drivers to put their cards on the table. The Tourmalet is just one of four difficult mountains today that should provide a first form determination among the favorites.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #9: Val d'Aran – Arcalis
Date: Sunday 10nd July
Length: 184km
Category: Mountain Stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 14:50 p.m. – 18:00 p.m
Editor's tip: Andorra was already the scene of one of the toughest stages in recent decades at last year's Vuelta. It won't be that difficult today, but especially the final climb to the finish will demand everything from the favorites and will ensure large gaps.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #10: Escaldes Engordany – Revel
Date: Tuesday, 12th July 2016
Length: 198km
Category: Wavy
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: After a difficult climb right at the beginning, it's mostly flat/wavy back to France to the stage destination in Revel. Possibly a stage for a breakaway.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #11: Carcassonne – Montpelier
Date: Wednesday, 13th July 2016
Length: 164km
Category: Wavy/Flat
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: A small reward for the sprinters who are still in the race and survived the past few days' ordeal within the time limit.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #12: Montpellier – Mont Ventoux
Date: Thursday, 14th July 2016
Length: 185km
Category: Mountain Stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: On the French national holiday, Mont Ventoux celebrates its comeback at the Grand Boucle. The finale of the stage is brutal and could lead to potentially crucial time gaps.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #13: Bourg Saint-Andéol – La Caverne du Pont d'Arc (EZF)
Date: Friday, 15th July 2016
Length: 37 km (RT)
Category: Wavy
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: A difficult and, at 37km, quite long individual time trial could throw the overall rankings upside down for the second day in a row. Especially the two climbs at the beginning and at the end could cause difficulties for one or the other.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #14: Montélimar – Villars-les-Dombes
Date: Saturday, 16th of July 2016
Length: 208km
Category: Wavy
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: Another wavy stage whose flat finale also gives the remaining sprinters the opportunity to win the day. In the fight for the green jersey, things will now get hot.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #15: Bourg-en-Bresse – Culoz
Date: Sunday, 17th July 2016
Length: 159km
Category: Mountain Stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 15:00 p.m. – 17:45 p.m
Editor's tip: There is a lot of altitude to collect today and especially the last third of the stage with the Grand Colombier and the Lacets du Grand Colombier could lure some favorites out of their reserves.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #16: Morains-en-Montagne – Bern
Date: Monday, 18th July 2016
Length: 206km
Category: Wavy
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 18:00 p.m
Editor's tip: Today the top riders have another opportunity to rest their tired legs. The wavy stage should again be a case for a breakaway or maybe a puncheur who still has enough grains after two weeks.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #17: Bern – Tinhaut-Emosson
Date: Wednesday, 20th July 2016
Length: 184km
Category: Mountain Stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: A complicated stage awaits the riders today: not only because of the difficult mountain finish in Finhaut-Emosson, but also because some riders could find it difficult to get back on their feet after the rest day.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #18: Sallanches – Megève (EZF)
Date: Thursday, July 21, 2016
Length: 17 km (RT)
Category: mountain time trial
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:05 p.m. – 17:40 p.m
Editor's tip: An exciting mountain time trial just before the grand finale of the tour - this will show which of the favorites was the best at managing their strength. At the Dauphiné, neither Contador nor Froome showed any weaknesses in a similar, albeit much shorter, time trial.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #19: Albertville – Saint-Gervais-Mont-Blanc
Date: Friday, 22th July 2016
Length: 145km
Category: Mountain Stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 15:10 p.m. – 17:35 p.m
Editor's tip: The Grand Boucle is entering its home straight and two tough stages in the Alps will decide who will wear the Maillot Jaune in Paris. Today we can expect attacks, especially during the final climb.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #20: Megève – Morzine
Date: Saturday, 23th of July 2016
Length: 146km
Category: Mountain Stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 13:00 p.m. – 17:25 p.m
Editor's tip: On the way from Megève to Morzine, four steep climbs offer one last chance to make up for deficits in the general classification. We can look forward to an exciting day of cycling with many attacks.
Tour de France 2016 Stage #21: Chantilly – Paris
Date: Sunday, 24th July 2016
Length: 113km
Category: flat stage
TV broadcast: Eurosport, 14:30 p.m. – 17:45 p.m. / ARD, 16:30 p.m. – 19:30 p.m
Editor's tip: It's done. The final 113km to Paris will be an opportunity for most riders to enjoy, with only the sprinter teams and their captains giving their all to secure a prestigious victory on the Champs-Élysées.
