Cycling: This morning, the ASO announced the wildcards for Paris-Roubaix. In addition to the 18 WorldTour teams, the pros from Bora-Argon 10 will also be at the start on April 18th. Unfortunately, there is no invitation for the second German ProContinental racing team, Team Stölting Service Group.
In addition to the 18 seeded WorldTour teams, the ASO today announced the addressees of the seven second division teams who will receive a wild card for Paris-Roubaix - Bora-Argon 18 is also included. Last year, the team around the German road champion Emanuel Buchmann already had , Dominik Nerz, Sam Bennett and Co. received an invitation to the traditional classic with its notorious pavés. At that time, the team even had a driver in the top 20 in Andreas Schillinger (16th place). Bora-Argon 18 certainly strives to at least repeat this success.
The remaining wild cards go exclusively to teams from France and Belgium: Cofidis, Direct Energie (as Europcar), Topsport-Vlaanderen-Baloise and Wanty-Groupe Gobert were also there last year, Delko Marseille Provence KTM and Fortuneo - Vital Concept replace UnitedHealthcare and Bretagne-Séché Environnement, which went empty handed this year. The Stölting Service Group team, which celebrated its first top 10 placement last week in Oman after the turbulent circumstances at the beginning of the season, is also not included.
