Cycling: The European Enduro Series goes into the third round on July 25th and 26th and takes place on the beautiful Reschenpass. The "3-Country Enduro Trails" between Austria, Italy and Switzerland offer everything that makes the heart of every enduro rider beat faster. With the participation of the overall winner from 2014, Robert Williams (GBR), and the winner of the first stop in 2015 in Punta Ala, Michal Prokop from the Czech Republic, the third stop promises to be an extremely exciting one.
After Punta Ala on the Mediterranean, via Sölden and its glacier trails, the European Enduro Series now makes a stop in the border region between these two countries and Switzerland at the picturesque Lake Reschen. The "3-Country Enduro Race" is part of the racing series for the second time. As in the previous year, it will also be a spectacular race with long and demanding stages this year.
The region around Lake Reschen is a true mecca for enduro bikers. As part of the "3-Country Enduro Trails" project, the towns of Nauders, Reschen, St. Valentin and Graun have joined forces and continuously expanded their cross-border network of trails around the breathtaking landscape of Lake Reschen. Bikers are sure to get their money's worth on the newly created trails. The elite of European enduro riders will put the expanded trail network through its paces on July 26th.
The first race of the season in Punta Ala, Italy, was spectacular and a complete success, the participants are already looking forward to the second race in Sölden and at the latest by the third stop in the region around the Reschen Pass, the international starting field knows about the quality of the series and the anticipation is huge. The race track will take the drivers through three countries, over four mountain railways and over six stages with a total length of 18 km. The riders will climb over 1500 meters of altitude, and then shoot over 3000 meters of altitude downhill in the individual stages. The start and finish is directly at the Schönebenbahn at the azure blue Reschensee. The entire race distance runs over 53km.
The mainly natural trails offer everything for a perfect enduro race at European level: flowing parts alternate with root passages and rocky sections. In between, the view of the picturesque lake completes the fantastic atmosphere. In order to guarantee the maximum trail yield, the four cable cars Mutzkopfbahn, Bergkastelbahn, Schönebenbahn and Haideralmbahn are integrated into the race.
Of course, the winner of the first tour stop of the EES 2015, Michal Prokop, will also be at the start. However, the competition is already lurking for their chance. Robert Williams, overall winner of the EES 2014 and second in Punta Ala, is hot on Prokop's heels and definitely wants to defend his title from last year. And with the already confirmed participation of Fabian Scholz (GER), James Shirley (GBR), Benni Purner (AUT) and Monika Büchi from Switzerland, the last weekend in July will definitely be an exciting and challenging challenge in front of a picturesque backdrop in in the middle of the Alps.
