Test: For almost 25 years now, the US manufacturer Topeak has been supplying cyclists worldwide with all kinds of accessories for the bike and its rider. Many cyclists swear by the products from Massachusetts - we tested the Topeak Hummer 2 to see whether the good reputation was justified.

[/easy table]The Topeak Hummer 2 doesn't offer as many functions as some of its competitors - but what appears to be a disadvantage at first glance turns out to be the opposite in practice: Because the tools that the Hummer 2 comes with are sensibly selected and all of them for MTB and Road bike useful. No unnecessary ballast from exotic tools and so the Hummer remains compact and light without having to give up important tools.
tool quality
The compact tool from Topeak is also convincing in terms of quality. The tools, all made of tool steel, do their job at all times without any problems. The Allen keys are hardly inferior to their more expensive counterparts and even sensitive aluminum screws can be tightened well without damaging the screw head.
Even with the Achilles heel of most other tools, the chain rivet tool, the Hummer convinces with high quality. Don't be fooled by the extremely compact design, because the design is extremely stable: We were even able to open old chains with really tight pins without the tool twisting. Clever: With the additional 4mm Allen key integrated into the tire lever, the rivet gun can be operated wonderfully. Speaking of tire levers: Here we come to what is perhaps the only weak point of the Hummer 2. Due to the small format of the mini tool, the tire levers are of course also quite small and fragile. The plastic bends quickly and the first stubborn tire immediately brought one of the two tire levers to its knees: it broke off. But with Topeak this is not a big deal, because most of the tools are available as spare parts. A set of new tire levers only costs a few euros.
handling
The length of the individual tools is mostly comfortable and the tool lies very well in the hand. Due to its small size, it can even be used in confined spaces. The robustness of the Hummer 2 was positive: Even with high forces, for example when opening a chain or rusted screws, the tool did not twist - we know that differently from the competition, bravo!
