Lifestyle: This coming weekend (from March 20th to 22nd) the Berliner Fahrradschau will be taking place for the sixth time at Station Berlin am Gleisdreieck. Velomotion spoke to the team around the famous lifestyle bike show and gives a little taste of what's to come.
Special features at the Berlin Bicycle Show
The special thing is that the BFS is not a classic bicycle trade fair, but at the same time a public and trade fair in the area of lifestyle and bicycle culture. That means everyone is welcome and can find out about the latest trends in the bicycle industry. There will not only be exhibitors who want to sell their products, but the program will be accompanied by exhibitions, events and workshops. This makes it particularly clear how diverse cycling culture actually is.
The exhibition from the Institute for Research and Development of Sports Equipment (FES), for example, gives visitors a very rare insight into the results of their work. There will be a retrospective at the bike show and the latest models will also be on display. The production of carbon wheels in track sports also plays a role.
The public
The target group are people who are enthusiastic about cycling. Everyone who loves cycling and is interested in it is welcome. It doesn't matter whether you just like driving around the block or are a professional athlete. The fair is not just about lifestyle. There are innovative exhibitors presenting bamboo bicycles, for example, but also manufacturers who focus on professional cycling.
Active trends become clear with a visit. The e-bikes are getting bigger and bigger, which is very noticeable. The purchase is also possible directly at the bicycle fair. But also exclusive new presentations of products that are not yet on the market are part of the bike show.
The Place To Be for road cyclists
The Berlin Bicycle Show is divided into areas. For example, there is the Handmade Area, where handmade bicycles can be found. There are also racing bikes there. The urban lifestyle area would also be interesting for those who travel urban. There are different needs for each purpose. If you focus completely on the street, then you would be in good hands between ambition, handmade and urban lifestyle.
A highlight will definitely be the opening night on Friday. A lot happens here, from events to workshops. The fair combines the pure exhibition for the urban movement with action that simply belongs to it. That strikes a nice balance.
Every exhibitor has something that he prepares to have an eye-catcher on site. Each exhibitor has its own special features. There are definitely market leaders in all categories, as well as start-ups with new innovations. You go from stand to stand and are always surprised with something different.
Over 250 brands will be represented on site and the show will be significantly larger than last year.
There is also a much more extensive program for children. There will be a teacher there who volunteers for cycling for youngsters and supervises the skill course. The BMX project at the Birkenstein day care center is also there, where the kids are given the opportunity to get in touch with the bike, to overcome fears and to test their limits. In this context, there is also a small race for the first competitive experience, as a wheel trophy.
