Market: Steve Peat builds his own bikes. With ZumZum Bikes, the downhill doyen turns to the youngest and has created a top-class wheel. The wooden bike with an extraordinary look even offers up to five centimeters of spring travel.
Steve Peat is primarily associated with downhill racing. However, Peat is now launching children's bikes. The 41-year-old father has started a Kickstarter project under ZumZum Bikes, with which he wants to offer the little ones among us full riding fun. He relies on an unusual design, which is already known from chairs. Up to five centimeters of spring travel are generated by hard-wearing oak wood, so that children can enjoy full suspension.
The bike is offered in two sizes. These are adjustable in terms of wheelbase and wheel size. The 10-inch bike can be adjusted from 33 to 37 centimetres, the 12-inch bike from 36 to 40 centimetres. In the Early Bird offer, the bike currently costs a slim $149 - later it will cost $249.
A special feature of the wooden wheels is the built-in chip that saves all the information about the wheel. This can be called up via your smartphone and any possible confusion can be ruled out.
