Cycling: The 36th edition of the Bayern Rundfahrt will lead through the Free State with a length of 830 kilometers in 5 stages. The program of the most important stage race in Germany in 2015 also includes a short detour to neighboring Thuringia – also officially a Free State since 1993.
From May 12th to 17th, the participating cyclists and spectators can look forward to a promising route. The Bayern Rundfahrt leads from the Upper Palatinate to Nuremberg in Middle Franconia. The first stage runs from Regensburg to Waldsassen and, with a length of over 221 kilometers, is also the longest route of the tour. The cyclists have to cover almost 180 kilometers on the second day on their way to the porcelain town of Selb. The end of the third stage marks the end of almost 206 kilometers in Ebern in the Lower Franconian district of Haßberge. The individual time trial over 26 kilometers takes place in Haßfurt on the fourth day of the Bayern Rundfahrt. On the final day, the drivers have to cover another 198 kilometers before they reach their destination in Nuremberg.
Many national and international top drivers are expected again at the race. Linus Gerdemann was the last German to stand at the top of the podium in 2009. For the first time there will also be a special rating for the most combative driver at the Bayern Rundfahrt.
