GTA - Grand Theft Auto, the most played car computer game in the history of game consoles. Behind GTA is Rockstar Games, R* for short, who have now also discovered the racing bike as a cool race vehicle. As co-hosts of a racing series called Red Hood Crit, they want to reinvent the City Criterion. Chasing through Milan or Brooklyn on track bikes and to the thumping DJ music sounds like a more scenic event than the “Night of Hanover”, which is no longer taking place.
However, the basic principle is the same: One criterion (a circuit of just over 1 km) in the middle of the city - Saturday evening at prime time - 85 drivers, 24 laps (20 for the women). But in detail it is something completely different. The goal is to give the racing bike event a pinch of coolness and style and this is getting better and better every year. We were recently in Milan at the Red Hook Crit No. 5 on site and brought you the atmosphere in a few photos ... Pictures simply say more than words.
The first Red Hook Crit 2014 took place in Brooklyn in March and the second in Barcelona in August. Milan was the third and final stop for 2014.
The Frenchman Thibaud Lhenry won the overall ranking for the men, and the multiple Spanish champion on road and track Ainara Elbusto Arteaga for the women.
The next Red Hook Crit, which has already been determined, will take place in March 2015 again in Brooklyn.
Requirements for participation are not only to be at the start with a track bike (rigid hub, no brakes), but also to prove that you can master this piece of sports equipment - not insignificant when you consider that a peloton of 85 starters without brakes with an average speed of heats through an Italian city center at over 40 km/h. For this reason, a technical check of the drivers and qualifying will take place in the afternoon.
Incidentally, for the events in Barcelona and Brooklyn, Cinelli put on a special edition of the track classic Vigorelli, limited to 20 pieces. Fantastically beautiful frame sets full of tradition and modernity. We would like to present the Brooklyn Edition with fine Campagnolo Pista parts here on Velomotion shortly.
Anyone who dares to start at the Red Hood Crit will find it here Information and soon the dates for 2015.
