Triathlon: The Ironman Mallorca saw a sovereign winner in Tom Don. The Brit secured the first staging of the event with calculation and staying power.
Already after the swim, Don had positioned himself at the top as second. Only the Swiss Manuel Küng had climbed out of the Mediterranean before him. However, he put a lot of pressure on the bike and continuously increased his lead.
Don positioned himself behind, who attached himself to the verses of Küng together with Mike Aigroz. After 12 kilometers of running, the Brit finally took the lead and didn't give it up until the end. After 8:34:02 hours he stretched his hands to the sky in Alcudia. In the women's race, Eimear Mullan secured victory in 9:24:17 ahead of Dede Griesbauer and Astrid Ganzow.
