Cycling: A total of 719 samples were taken from riders during the Tour de France. The result is now available. All samples were negative. This was announced by the world cycling association UCI together with the Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation (CADF). The latter carried out the controls in France.
Compared to the previous year, where 622 samples were taken, the controls were again tightened. 197 of the 719 samples taken were used for comparisons with the biological passport. In addition, 522 urine and blood samples were collected. A special feature was that for the first time in the history of the Tour de France, a sample was taken from all drivers on the rest day for comparison with the biological passport.
As further stated in the announcement, all samples will be frozen in order to preserve them for possible later analysis using modern methods.
