cycling: Simon Geschke wins GP Aargau

June 13, 2014 by the editorial office

2014 Giro d'Italia - Stage Eleven

Cycling: Berlin's Simon Geschke (Giant-Shimano) has preserved his good form from the Giro d'Italia and was able to win his first race after the Tour of Italy.

At the Aargau GP in Switzerland, he defeated the Swiss Silvan Dillier (BMC) and the Belgian Jérôme Baugnies (Wanty – Groupe Gobert) in the final. Geschke also benefited from the preparatory work of his teammate Georg Preidler, who previously controlled the 25-strong leading group that had formed over the last few kilometers in an exemplary manner.

"It's a great relief for me after I've been close so many times but haven't won a race since 2011", says Geschke at the finish.
