Cycling: Things are going well again for Arnstadt's Marcel Kittel (Giant-Shimano) After his victory on the opening stage of the Ster ZLM Toer, he is now also leading the tour.
In yesterday's prologue, Kittel beat Belgian Philippe Gilbert (BMC) and had to settle for fifth place. On the first, 180-kilometre section from Rucphen to Sint Willebrord, however, he didn't miss a beat in the final and beat Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Sharp) by a bike length.
"I'm happy, proud, and honestly relieved to have won today ," Kittel said after the race via Facebook. "I'm delighted to be returning to the racing circuit so well after the altitude training camp. I practically gained momentum by training in the Spanish mountains."
