The Australian Cadel Evans (BMC) won the tough Giro del Trentino. After four stages, he was well ahead of Italy's Domenico Pozzovivo (Ag2R La Mondiale) and Poland's Przemyslaw Niemiec (Lampre Merida).

He laid the foundation for his victory on the third stage, which he won as a soloist. The day before, he had underlined his ambitions by finishing fourth.

The German team NetApp-Endura also drove well. After second place in the opening time trial, Tiago Machado finally secured sixth place overall.
