Andreas Dreitz won the Challenge Fuerteventura. Things didn't look good for him at the beginning of the race. After the swim, there was already an impressive gap to the front runners. However, Dreitz was able to reduce this on the bike before he finally turned up the heat on the running track. In the end he was more than a minute ahead of Sylvain Sudrie and Horst Reichel.

Even while swimming, the Dane was able to keep in touch with the top. On the bike, she then underscored that she would be the athlete to beat her competitors. But she didn't give them a chance to do so. She finally got into her running shoes with a clear lead. Here she managed to further increase the lead. At the finish, Pedersen was almost six minutes ahead of Eimear Mullan and Daniela Sämmler.
