The new Koga Kimera Road Premium became the internationally recognized design award Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 awarded. The international jury evaluated a total of 4.815 products from 53 countries and showed their Kimera particularly impressed by its innovative strength and quality.
On July 7, 2014, the Red Dot will be awarded as part of the traditional Red Dot Gala and subsequent Designers' Night. The winners' exhibition will also be opened on this evening, in which the Koga Kimera Road Premium will be presented before it is subsequently included in the permanent exhibition of the Red Dot Museum.
When designing the new Kimera According to Koga, the main focus was on a drastic improvement in aerodynamics and comfort without making concessions to the well-known stiffness-to-weight ratio. The visibly slimmer tubes and brakes integrated into the frame and fork minimize drag and give the Kimera a remarkably clean design. At the same time, the bike retains its own typical look thanks to the slightly curved top tube and the monostay seatstay.
The new Kimera routes the cables inside and is compatible with Shimano's Di2 groupsets. The dropouts made of carbon reduce the weight and guarantee an optimal connection with the frame. The bike also has a PressFit bottom bracket, a conical head tube and a replaceable derailleur hanger. The Kimera is equipped with a lightweight racing saddle with carbon rails and a 27,2mm seat post. The bike has been available in two versions since the beginning of March 2014: As Kimera Road Premium and as a Kimera Road Prestige.
