# At dawn, the contestants set out for battle.
Extreme long-distance triathlons are enjoying increasing popularity. A few days ago the Norseman Extreme lured the athletes to the Eidfjord in Norway, now the Alps were calling. In Embrun, more than 4000 meters of altitude awaited the participants of the 30th edition of the "Embrunman".
All eyes were on Marcel Zamora Pérez for the men. The Spaniard was able to win the last three editions of the race and was accordingly motivated before the start. That anything but a fourth win would be a disappointment for him was already apparent after the swim. He was the first to go onto the bike course, which included the Col d'Izoard, and was able to extend his lead there with the fastest time. On the running course he was able to confidently maintain his lead. The Frenchman Hervé Fraure came in second, beating the Roth runner-up James Cunnama from South Africa to third place. The best German was Alexander Nikolopoulos in eighth place.
# At the Col d'Izoard something like a Tour de France feeling came up.
# He is the dominator of the "Embrunman". The Spaniard Marcel Zamora Pérez won for the fourth time in a row.
There was also a favorite victory for the women. The French Jeanne Collonge celebrated a home win. After the swim, she was still behind Celine Schärer from Switzerland, but she didn't give her a chance in the following two sections. Ireland's Eimear Mullan followed in third place. Best German was Annika Seeg from Sindelfingen in ninth place.
# France's Jeanne Collonge gave the numerous spectators a home win.
