Best list of road bike taillights

Riding with a light on the seat post is a real safety plus, even during the day - and not the least bit “uncool”, as professional cyclists around the world prove. You can't go wrong when buying, instead there is a wide variety of models and versions with interesting additional functions.

For many cyclists, a rear light is now a piece of equipment that is used all year round - and not just in unfavorable lighting conditions. From amateur riders to professional cyclists, active riders have found that the red tail light prevents dangerous situations and reduces the frequency of close overtaking maneuvers. After all, thanks to LED, you can be seen from hundreds of meters. And even those who prefer to cycle in dark clothing no longer have to worry about being overlooked.

Security without disadvantages

There are no disadvantages to driving with a taillight. An average light weighs around 30 grams, can be easily attached to the seat post and stays out of the way. Charging via Micro-USB is child's play, and the small LED light doesn't have to cost much more than 20 euros - unless you value special features such as automatic brake lights or radar detectors. Since current rear lights are attached with rubber or silicone straps, they can be easily changed from one bike to another - screw-on brackets are no longer necessary given the compact dimensions and low weight of the lights.

Do not confuse with battery lights!

So you don't have to pay too much attention when buying - the main thing is that you choose a model from a well-known accessory manufacturer, of which there are quite a few today. One should not forget that there are still rear lights equipped with disposable batteries or button cells, which are of course much more impractical to use. If you are very careful, you should also make sure that the light is StVZO compliant when purchasing.

But the main thing is to drive with a taillight at all. You have eyes forward and can react if another road user messes up. However, when it comes to rear traffic, optimal visibility is the best protection. And the red light on the seat post is by no means “uncool” – just ask the professional athletes who ride in traffic every day.
