Renthal Revo-F : Uncompromisingly designed for grip and control

August 24, 2026 by Michael Wahl

For decades, Renthal has stood for high-quality components with a strong motorsport DNA. The company was founded in 1969 in Great Britain by motorcycle enthusiasts Andrew Renshaw and Henry Rosenthal. The brand name is a combination of "Ren" and "thal," their two surnames. Renthal started with aluminum handlebars for trial motorcycles; today, in addition to motorcycle, ATV, and off-road components, its portfolio also includes a comprehensive range of bicycles. Renthal has been active in the bicycle sector since 2010, transferring its racing experience to high-quality mountain bike components.

The Revo-F is a high-quality flat pedal designed for demanding MTB use, where maximum grip, control, and robustness are paramount. The 100 x 104 mm platform features a pronounced concave shape on two axles, securely holding the foot in a defined position. The pedal body is made of forged and then CNC-machined 6061 aluminum, while the axle is constructed from high-strength, forged, and precision-machined chromoly. Ten pins per side provide grip, standard at 5,5 mm, which can be adjusted to 4,5, 3,5, or 2,5 mm using the included pins and washers. Inside, an extra-wide IGUS bushing and three external cartridge bearings ensure optimal performance; the entire system is sealed against dirt and water. A particularly positive aspect is its ease of maintenance: thanks to the special axle system, the pedal can be serviced at home using standard tools. Renthal is also well positioned when it comes to spare parts; axles, bearing/bushing kits, end caps and pin sets are among the available items.

From the very first touch, the Revo-F makes a very solid and robust impression. At the same time, its relatively heavy weight of 488 grams per pair is immediately noticeable. On the trail, the pedal impresses with its excellent grip: your foot rests securely on the platform, and the pedal is easy to pull, especially on climbs. On descents, the pronounced concavity, combined with the grippy pins, provides a great deal of confidence; you practically feel like you're standing in the pedal, not just on it. The Revo-F is also relatively stiff, which should particularly appeal to more aggressive riders who tackle bigger jumps and hard landings. However, those who prefer a nimble and playful ride on technical uphill trails and a pedal with a bit more flex will likely be less satisfied with the Renthal. The weight might also deter riders who are committed to lightweight construction in every component.
