Pegasus Swing 2026: The all-round brand of the Cologne-based bicycle purchasing cooperative eG (ZEG) is modernizing its 20-inch models with a redesigned frame and new drive options. The Pegasus Swing is now available for under €3.000.
In the compact bike segment, continuity is high: the typical features of the category, such as 20-inch wheels, a low step-through frame with crossed frame tubes, and a battery mounted on the seat tube, have been familiar for a good ten years. Now, the Cologne-based manufacturer is releasing a new variation, the Pegasus Swing 2026, which clearly distinguishes itself from its predecessor. The frame has become more distinctive and is said to be even more stable thanks to stiffness-optimized tubing; Pegasus has once again abandoned the welded-on luggage rack in the frame color. Instead, a classically mounted, yet modernly designed rear rack is now used, which features a discreetly integrated taillight.

A significant step forward is the suspension fork, which replaces the steel fork in the 2026 model year. It offers a generous 80 mm of travel and is equipped with a thru-axle for enhanced stability. Furthermore, Pegasus is placing even greater emphasis on low maintenance in the new model year and has discontinued the derailleur-equipped versions. Both 2026 Swing models – the NV Belt and the E8F Belt – feature internally geared hubs and belt drives. Other consistent features include bright headlights, the genre-typical folding handlebars, and three battery options with 400, 545, and 800 watt-hours.
Top model with powerful Bosch Performance Line PX
The top model in the new range is the Pegasus Swing NV Belt, available from €3.799 with a 400 Wh battery. "NV" stands for Nuvinci, or Enviolo, as the continuously variable transmission is now called. The smooth, continuous gear changes are known for their comfort and are a lot of fun, especially when combined with a powerful motor. And here, Pegasus delivers with the brand-new Bosch Performance PX, which, with up to 90 Nm of torque and a torque curve optimized for everyday use, offers a very successful balance between super-strong acceleration and smooth power delivery. Special features of the NV include grippy knobby tires and a high-quality parallelogram seatpost, which almost transforms the compact bike into an e-SUV. Both models share features such as the Tektro braking system and the Bosch Purion 200 display of the motor system.
Pegasus Swing: Affordable option with eight-speed hub gears
With the Pegasus Swing E8 Belt (from 2nd999 The gear system (Euro) is, of course, the Shimano Nexus 8. This robust gearbox has proven itself on e-bikes, although the Shimano Inter 5E is actually better suited for powerful mid-drive motors, as it's more torque-resistant and, with its fewer gear ratios, more comfortable to use. Ultimately, the Nexus 8 was likely chosen for its affordable price. It's paired with the Bosch Performance Line motor, a nearly equally powerful unit that delivers 75 Nm of torque and a support factor of 3,4, proving its worth in every situation – this refined drive system is more than enough power for a compact bike. Fittingly, the Pegasus Swing E8 Belt rolls on Schwalbe road tires, and the only thing missing on this model is a suspension seatpost, which, of course, is due to the price point. The new 2026 Swing models are certainly interesting, especially since 20-inch bikes can do pretty much everything that "large" e-bikes can – with the advantage of more compact dimensions and lower weight.
Both model variants of the Pegasus Swing can already be seen on the manufacturer's homepage and should be available in the large ZEG dealer network in the coming weeks.
