Bulls Iconic EVO FS: The Cologne-based brand presents a "real" SUV full-suspension bike, instead of simply converting an e-MTB. The result is sensible suspension travel for high comfort, combined with a thoroughly well-rounded component package.
There are different approaches to the topic of e-SUVs. Some manufacturers simply add lights, mudguards, and a rack to their e-MTBs and leave it at that. The result is a very sporty bike that isn't necessarily ideal for everyday use in terms of riding position and suspension travel. But you can also take a more complex approach – and then the result might be something like the Bulls Iconic EVO FS.

A well-balanced e-SUV that blends MTB and trekking features
The Cologne-based MTB specialist positions the new model precisely where e-SUVs are generally categorized: somewhere between trekking and MTB, but not leaning too heavily in either direction. Bulls achieves this balance with a frame that is also used in a similar form on the entry-level MTB EVO CX AM 1, thus demonstrating its versatility: in the Iconic EVO as the basis for a sporty trekking bike, and in the CX to create a forgiving all-round full-suspension bike.
Besides the unsuitable riding position for everyday use, there's another reason not to build the SUV on an e-MTB frame: its more complex suspension technology offers no advantages on an e-SUV. Where the air suspension is primarily intended to provide comfort – whether on potholed city asphalt or on natural trails during a bike tour – rather than ensuring secure road grip at high speeds, neither a four-bar linkage rear suspension nor a virtual pivot point is necessary. Therefore, Bulls uses a conventional single-pivot design with the pivot point at the height of the front chainring on the Iconic, thus avoiding any unwanted influence of chain tension on the suspension. The 120 mm of travel front and rear is also perfectly adequate for an all-round full-suspension bike. More travel would only make the bike stand taller, which is detrimental to the center of gravity. And Bulls also specifies a dropper seatpost on this bike, making getting on and off easier.
Bosch CX with typically strong propulsion
What SUV bikes and e-MTBs have in common is the drive system. After all, there's nothing wrong with enjoying the powerful propulsion offered by the Bosch Performance CX in every situation, even on an all-rounder. Up to 100 Nm of torque and an extremely high level of support mean that in the most powerful riding mode, you only need to pedal; on the other hand, the wide-ranging twelve-speed drivetrain also allows you to ride with a high cadence and slightly less support, thus conserving battery power.

Comfort and safety thanks to high-quality components
The layout is more typical of mountain bikes, featuring the Bosch System Controller integrated into the top tube and combined with the Mini Remote buttons on the handlebars. A proper display is also available in the form of the Bosch Kiox 500. The Bulls Iconic also boasts other high-quality components, such as the lighting system with a particularly bright front light and rear brake light, and the thru-axle mounting for both wheels. In addition, it comes equipped with sturdy aluminum fenders and high-quality ergonomic handlebar grips. In short, with the Bulls Iconic, you never feel like you're missing out on anything.
Priced at €5.199 with a 600 Wh battery and €5.499 with an 800 Wh battery, the bike falls squarely into the upper price range. The aforementioned entry-level full-suspension Bulls EVO CX is considerably cheaper: two centimeters more travel, two fewer gears, and in its base configuration, it's two grand less than the Iconic with the larger battery. The CX also features integrated rear lights and a power adapter on the stem for a front light, thus offering features suitable for everyday use. This allows riders to carefully consider how much e-mountain bike or e-SUV capability they want, especially when navigating the boundaries between everyday riding and off-road adventures.
