Product news: Wahoo is expanding its Elemnt computers with custom waypoints. This feature accesses markers stored on third-party platforms and makes them visible directly on the device during navigation. Strava, Komoot, and Ride with GPS are supported. The feature is compatible with the Gen 3 models BOLT 3, ROAM 3, and ACE.
According to the manufacturer, cyclists should see important route information—such as refreshment stops, climbs, hazards, or landmarks—in a structured manner and receive timely alerts. Waypoints appear on a dedicated overview page; their visibility can be shown or hidden. Proximity notifications should help you avoid missing planned stops or critical turns. When syncing via the Wahoo app, the waypoint data created in Strava, Komoot, or Ride with GPS is retained.
The implementation is based on the existing planning process: Routes are created and assigned waypoints as usual in the aforementioned platforms, then synchronized with the ELEMNT via the Wahoo app. Upcoming waypoints can be displayed or hidden during the ride. No additional steps on the device itself are required.
The innovation aims to provide a more seamless route experience without changing the planning habits of the current services.
