Cycling: Kaden Groves won the penultimate stage of the 2025 Tour de France. The Australian broke away from a large breakaway and crossed the finish line in Pontarlier as a soloist. He thus completed the Grand Tour triple, having already won stages at the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España. Surprisingly, there was also a change in the top ten of the overall standings today.

Next victory for a Belgian team: Caden Groves (Alpecin – Deceuninck) prevailed against all his companions in the rain on the 20th stage of the Tour de France. The strong sprinter did not even have to rely on his finishing speed – and did not even have to attack. When he was Jake Stewart (Israel – Premier Tech) and Frank van den Broeck (Picnic PostNL) formed a leading trio, his two companions disagreed and simply let him go. All three belonged to a large breakaway group, which also included Tim Wellens (UASE – XRG) and Matteo Jorgenson (Visma – Lease a Bike) were represented. All chances of victory were lost Romain Gregoire (Groupama – FDJ) and Ivan Romeo (Movistar), who were also leading the race when they crashed in a right-hand bend on a wet track.
Jegat vs. O'Connor
The day was also successful for Jordan Jegat (TotalEnergies). The Frenchman was also in the breakaway group of the day and thus Ben O'Connor (Jayco AlUla) was pushed out of tenth place in the overall standings. No breakaway group formed for a long time on the 184,2-kilometer stage from Nantua to Pontarlier, as many teams believed this was their last chance for a stage victory. The 112th Tour de France ends tomorrow in Paris—but probably not with a sprint.
