Cycling: Florian Lipowitz has captured the white jersey at the Tour de France. The German rider was in excellent shape on today's Pyrenees stage. The stage win goes to breakaway rider Thymen Arensman.
Lipowitz conquers the white jersey
The 182,6-kilometer stage from Pau to Luchon-Superbagnères also proved Florian Lipowitz (RB – Bora – hansgrohe) was no embarrassment. Evenepoel has to abandon the Tour de France
As was almost to be feared, today Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick-Step) wasn't feeling well. After his poor time trial the day before, the Belgian was dropped from the peloton right at the start of the Col du Tourmalet. His teammates had already been given the go-ahead to join the breakaway groups today. It quickly became clear that Evenepoel would not finish this stage. Just like Stef Cras (TotalEnergies) and Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl – Trek) he gave up the Tour de France.
Lenny Martinez reclaims the mountains jersey
With a clear mission, lenny martinez (Bahrain – Victorious) started the stage. With many strong climbers, the Frenchman broke away from the main field and set his sights on the mountain jersey. As first on the Col du Tourmalet and the Col d'Aspin, he achieved a virtual takeover. Arensman tries the solo
