Discreet and stylish through the city: Pegasus Versario EVO

July 10, 2025 by Caspar Gebel

Pegasus Versario EVO review: The Cologne-based manufacturer's stylish city bike entices with its sensibly pared-down technology, attractive looks, and low maintenance requirements. Add to that a range of rarely seen features and an attractive price.

An e-trekking bike isn't the optimal choice for every everyday situation. Suspension forks and derailleur gears often require more maintenance, and the sporty, robust look is a matter of taste. Some people find the electronics on the handlebars too sensitive for everyday use, and those who travel with a backpack or messenger bag anyway might not even need a rack.

Pegasus Versario EVO: interesting everyday bike

If you recognize yourself in this, you should take a closer look at the Pegasus Versario EVO. The versatile bike from the Cologne-based brand deliberately breaks with many conventions of classic e-trekking bikes – even the successful Pegasus Premio EVO. Pegasus has challenged familiar components, explored new approaches, and created a bike that is virtually unbeatable in urban traffic.

The Brose motor delivers a decent 75 Nm of torque, yet remains pleasantly restrained. The 555 Wh battery is elegantly integrated into the down tube; its range should be good enough for a whole week, depending on the route. The manufacturer also offers the model with larger batteries – 740 and even 925 Wh.

Smartphone adapter instead of display

With these features, the Versario doesn't seem all that unusual at first glance, but then comes the highlight: There's no display on the handlebars, nor any typical keypad. Instead, the "FIT Master Node Basic" sits discreetly in the top tube – with three buttons (on/off and mode selection) as well as colored LEDs to display the mode and battery level. For many, this is perfectly sufficient – after all, not everyone wants to constantly monitor ride data. And you can't go without a display entirely: A smartphone can be attached to the stem and even charged via an adapter. A clever compromise that hardly any other urban bike offers.

The smartphone can be attached to the handlebar stem unit.
The “Master Node” is used for operation.

Another highlight is the "Zecure Holistic Cockpit," in which the handlebar and stem form a harmonious unit. The ergonomic shape of the unit is impressive without compromising on adjustment options. Visually, the component is unique and, together with the integrated cable routing, ensures a tidy appearance.

Pegasus integrates a practical daytime running light into the head tube.
At the rear, two bright taillights ensure visibility.

Daytime running light in the head tube

The lighting is also innovative: The bright B&M front light is located under the stem, complemented by an integrated daytime running light in the head tube. At the rear, there's no traditional fender or rack mount—instead, two bright taillights on the dropouts ensure good visibility. However, they're mounted quite low and could be obscured by other vehicles in city traffic. Therefore, a light jacket or helmet with a light is recommended in the dark.

Low-maintenance and functional: toothed belt, hub gears, disc brakes.
Large-volume tires provide cushioning comfort.

The combination of a Shimano five-speed hub and a low-maintenance belt drive also makes for a pleasant everyday ride. Shifting is child's play and perfectly matched to the motor. The rigid fork with 55-inch tires ensures comfortable handling and low maintenance. Now, attach your jacket, bag, or shopping to the luggage rack on the fork, where you can always keep an eye on your belongings – and then head out for urban fun with the Pegasus Versario EVO! Especially since this stylish city bike (also available with a diamond-cut frame and in black) is attractively priced at around €3.000.
