All Tour de France team helmets: The helmet from Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale – Van Rysel RCR-F Aero

Van Rysel RCR-F Aero: Affordable and well equipped

The sporting goods giant entices customers with unrivaled prices – at €120, the team helmet is unrivaled value, even though it's equipped with the MIPS liner. And the French team's helmet is also impressive in other ways: The Van Rysel RCR-F Aero's construction is high-quality, its shape harmonious and overall appealing; it also features a Fidlock closure and a total of five design variants.

The helmet has several ventilation openings at the front.
The rear section is aerodynamically rounded.

Only two sizes with a significant weight difference

The functionality of the RCR-F Aero is also impressive. The helmet fits comfortably and is easy to adjust. However, the helmet, named after the team bike, is only available in two sizes, M and L. With seven vents on the front, one intake on the top, and three outlets on the rear, the aero helmet is well ventilated, although the vents aren't particularly large.

The manufacturer speaks of the "unrivaled aerodynamics" of the rounded helmet, without further specifying this claim; however, the aforementioned cooperation with the aerodynamics specialists at Swiss Side gives cause for optimism.

Van Rysel delivered two test samples: a red and white helmet in size M and a gray one in size L. The latter features a surface reminiscent of softshell helmets of yesteryear, but this is purely aesthetic. There's also a significant weight difference between sizes M (297 grams) and L (344 grams).

At a very affordable price, the Decathlon helmet offers the Mips system…
… and a Fidlock closure.
