Construction
With the Terra, G-Form remains true to its line, relying on a proven sock design, complemented by a sophisticated cutout in the back of the knee. This ensures greater freedom of movement and reduces unpleasant heat build-up. The protector plate is pre-shaped, removable, and sits securely behind a robust outer material. A special feature is the side ventilation opening, made of a coarse-mesh plastic mesh, a clever solution for improving air circulation. The cuffs are equipped with elastic bands. The upper cuff is significantly wider and firmer than the lower, which has a more delicate appearance. Both ends feature silicone prints on the inside to prevent slipping. The back of the protector features two different materials: a fine mesh material is used in the lower section, while G-Form forgoes breathable fabric in the upper section for the sake of stability.
Protection
"Next Level Technologies" isn't just an advertising slogan; it's a lived practice at G-Form. The Terra is equipped with the new Re ZRO protector plate, which impresses across the board: It's Level 1 certified, boasts a pre-shaped, flexible structure, and offers reliable impact protection for the knee and surrounding area. The sustainability of the Re ZRO plate is particularly noteworthy: It's 100% recyclable and even compostable, a strong statement toward environmentally friendly protector development.
Fitting
In practice, the Terra fits very comfortably. The soft protector plate adapts well to the knee and didn't slip during the test ride. Due to the cutout in the back of the knee, the protector initially feels slightly tight in the upper and lower areas, but this is a matter of getting used to and disappears after a short time. Overall, the Terra offers a well-thought-out, close-fitting fit, without pressure points or friction.
Movement
Freedom of movement is one of the Terra's greatest strengths. The soft materials and the anatomically shaped protector plate allow for a natural riding feel. The cutout in the back of the knee, in particular, ensures that the protector doesn't interfere with or restrict pedaling movements. As a result, the Terra remained almost unnoticed on our tour—exactly what you'd want from a good knee pad.
breathability
A real plus point: the side ventilation opening. Together with the perforated structure of the protector plate, this ensures noticeable air circulation around the knee joint. Combined with the open back of the knee, the Terra offers exceptional ventilation. The cooling effect was clearly noticeable during the test ride, a successful combination of protection and comfort, even in warmer conditions.
robustness
The Terra's front panel is covered with an abrasion-resistant material that can withstand minor falls and contact with branches or rocks. However, the protector is not designed for frequent, hard falls. Overall, the workmanship is high-quality. We were particularly impressed by the fine mesh on the back, which appears more robust than comparable models from other manufacturers.
