Product news: With the Fox Podium, the US manufacturer introduces its first upside-down suspension fork for e-bike and enduro racing. The model with the catchy name was developed for brutal downhills, technical race tracks, and the world's most demanding riders. The upside-down suspension fork is intended to be nothing less than the new benchmark in single-crown fork performance.
Fox developed the new Podium Upside-Down fork to maximize the performance of the Grip X2 shock—with every possible improvement in smoothness and confidence-inspiring longitudinal stiffness in the chassis. The solution was to turn the traditional fork design on its head with an inverted chassis, combining it with the Fox Grip X2 shock to achieve unmatched damping sensitivity.
At the heart of the Podium single-crown fork is uncompromising longitudinal stiffness, enabled by oversized 47 mm stanchions and a generatively designed crown structure. This setup is designed to deliver stiffness comparable to the proven Fox 40 dual-crown fork, allowing the rider to hold precise lines with absolute confidence—even at the highest downhill speeds.
To further increase torsional rigidity, Fox replaced the standard 15 mm axle with a 20 x 110 mm Boost DH steel axle, which distributes forces more evenly across the lower leg interface. Combined with the 175 mm bushing overlap—32% more than the 38 mm and even 7% more than the Fox 40—the Podium is said to offer superior chassis stiffness and reduced friction under high loads.
Every aspect of the Podium is engineered for reduced friction and increased sensitivity: Full oil immersion ensures constant lubrication of the seals, while gravity helps remove contaminants. Reduced unsprung mass—thanks to the inverted design—improves suspension responsiveness. According to Fox, the new Podium feels like a downhill fork in a single-crown chassis.
The Podium is available for 29" wheels and offers 170 mm of travel with a 160 mm option. Fox lists the fork weight at 2695 grams. Anyone who wants to own the new upside-down fork will have to shell out a hefty €2.399,00.
