Lazer Z1 KinetiCore: High safety and good ventilation
The Z1 is a true classic, which was already on the market in a very similar form ten years ago. The Lazer Z1 KinetiCore offers a version with optimized safety: densely packed foam blocks are positioned on the inside of the EPS body to absorb shear forces and thus reduce the risk of injury in certain crash scenarios.
Pulled down low at the neck
The helmet's shape, which sits low at the neck and rather low at the temples, should also provide a high level of safety. The rear shell of the adjustment system barely protrudes from under the helmet, meaning the typical adjustment dial on the Lazer wouldn't work. Instead, there's the "Advanced RollSys" dial on top of the helmet, which is now better integrated and works quite well once you get used to it. However, the height adjustment isn't very extensive—a little more adjustment range would improve the comfortable fit even further.
Good ventilation with many openings
A distinctive feature of the Lazer Z1 KinetiCore is its numerous vents, which ensure excellent ventilation. The open shape of the outer shell allows air to enter and heat to escape. For protection against wind and rain, Lazer offers the "Aeroshell" for the Z1 KinetiCore, a shell that largely closes the helmet's vents.
The Lazer's straps are simple yet functional, and the padding is very comfortable. The weight of 261 grams in size L is only one gram over the manufacturer's specifications; the price of €259,99 is rather high, but certainly justified.
