Almeida climbs to stage victory again

He managed to turn it around after all. Joao almeida (UAE – XRG) won the 88th edition of the Tour de Suisse, despite losing over three minutes on the first stage. A ten-kilometer, challenging mountain time trial from Beckenried to Stockhütte was to be completed. Almeida mastered this challenge with ease, winning by 25 seconds. He thus secured the victory. Kevin Vauquelin (Arkéa – B&B Hotels) finally took off the yellow jersey. The Frenchman has to settle for second place in the overall standings, ahead of Oscar Onlyy (Picnic PostNL). The Austrian Felix Gall (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) narrowly misses the podium and finishes fourth. Lennard Kamna (Lidl – Trek) also lost time today, but can be happy with sixth place.

Vlasov wins the mountains classification of the Tour de Suisse

In addition to the overall victory, Joao almeida (UAE – XRG) also secured the points classification. The Russian Alexander Vlasov (RB – Bora – hansgrohe) takes home the mountain jersey. The victory in the junior classification goes to Kevin Vauquelin (Arkéa – B&B Hotels), even if he is probably more sad about losing the yellow jersey.
