New gravel tire lineup and more: Vittoria rethinks EVERYTHING

10 April 2025 by Florian Nowak

Product news: The new products from the Gravel Endurance range from Italian manufacturer Vittoria set new standards in the gravel sector. The introduction of the T-Score scale significantly simplifies tire selection and makes the entire range even more transparent and targeted. Our product test shows that the new T-50 tire, with its innovative graphene-based endurance formulation and versatile tread pattern, meets the highest demands – while the Air-Liner Light Gravel Insert impresses as a clever additional feature for added protection and stability. The Tire Pressure Calculator perfectly rounds out the offering by suggesting a scientifically sound, individually adjusted tire pressure.

For all ambitious gravel riders who value not only speed but also safety and versatility, Vittoria's new range offers an outstanding solution - based on innovative technology, extensive testing and a clear product philosophy.

The new Gravel Endurance Range and the T-Score scale

Vittoria has fundamentally redesigned its Endurance Gravel range to provide even more targeted support for gravel riders in tire selection. Central to this redesign is the introduction of the T-Score scale – an innovative system that evaluates road conditions from smooth, asphalt-like surfaces to extremely demanding off-road conditions. Based on extensive laboratory testing in VittoriaLabs and in collaboration with professional athletes, this scale allows riders to select the ideal tire for the upcoming conditions at a glance.

The previous naming conventions for gravel tires have been reinterpreted within the framework of the T-Score scale. For example, the Terreno Zero has been renamed the T10 Hardpack and the Terreno Dry the T30 Fine Loose – while the Terreno Mix has been renamed the T50 and the aggressive "Mezcal" style the T70. With this systematic classification, selecting the right tire becomes a matter of "matchmaking" – the perfect interplay of tire type and terrain.

The new Vittoria T-50 tire

At the heart of the updated gravel range is the new T-50 tire, strategically positioned between the T30 (formerly Terreno Dry) and the T70 (inspired by the Mezcal). The T-50 impresses with a versatile, fast-rolling tread pattern and an innovative, directional siping texture that not only provides excellent grip in corners but also offers optimal traction on varying surfaces—from firm hardpack to mixed conditions.

The tire construction is based on the Endurance formulation, reinforced with graphene. This component not only ensures improved rolling ability and durability, but also high puncture resistance. The construction is supported by a lightweight 100 TPI nylon casing, which, together with an integrated anti-puncture belt and an additional side protection insert, creates a particularly robust tire. The T-50 is officially certified as tubeless-ready and hookless compatible—features that make it the ideal choice for ambitious gravel riders.

The new Air-Liner Light Gravel Insert

Alongside the new tire collection, Vittoria has also taken a step forward in the field of tire inserts. The Air-Liner Light Gravel Insert was developed specifically for tubeless gravel tires and is aimed at riders who value additional pinch-flat protection and improved sidewall stability.

The insert impresses with its self-expanding foam material: Under normal conditions, it takes up less volume, but expands in the event of a loss of air, thus largely stabilizing the tire and reducing the risk of a complete deflation. This allows the rider to continue riding for a short distance – even as a kind of "run-flat" solution in an emergency – until repairs are possible. The official product information also emphasizes that, despite its protective design, the Air-Liner Light Gravel is extremely lightweight (approximately 45 g for 700c, 40 g for the 650b version) and was specifically designed for tires with a width of 42–50 mm.

First Ride: Vittoria gravel tire T-50 and Air-Liner Light Gravel Insert

In a first ride with Vittoria, we were able to test the new T-50 alongside the Air-Liner Light Gravel. A detailed review will follow on our website in the coming weeks.

A first impression already confirms the promised performance of the new tire. The successful combination of low friction and high traction, as well as the tread pattern, ensure a comfortable ride on a wide variety of surfaces. Combined with the Air-Liner Light Gravel Insert, the tire appears even more stabilized at lower air pressure, which also has an extremely positive effect on the ride. The most important aspect, however, is probably the feeling of safety, as you ride much more freely with the Air-Liner and no longer have to worry about potential punctures.

For the optimal setup we also used the new Tire Pressure Calcultor.

The new Tire Pressure Calculator from Vittoria

Another milestone in Vittoria's product innovation is the brand-new Tire Pressure Calculator. This online tool is based on a scientific method that considers all relevant variables: from rider and bike weight, tire size, and riding style to different terrain and conditions. With the help of extensive laboratory testing and validation by professional teams, the calculator provides individually optimized pressure recommendations that guarantee optimal grip, comfort, and puncture resistance.

In our test, we used the Tire Pressure Calculator to determine the ideal pressure for the T-50 tire and its use with the Air-Liner Light Gravel Insert. By entering specific application data (such as total weight, tire type, and riding conditions), we were able to determine precise settings that resulted in a noticeable improvement in handling and a reduction in rolling resistance—fully in line with Vittoria's specifications and philosophy. This was a first realization for us: we'd always been over-inflating.
