Cycling: Marc Hirschi has won the San Sebastian Klasikoa. The Swiss rider did not let Julian Alaphilippe get away from him on the last climb and finally defeated the Frenchman in the final sprint.
Hirschi wins ahead of Alaphilippe & Van Eetvelt
After 236 kilometers starting and finishing in San Sebastián, Marc Hirschi (UAE) can celebrate one of his greatest successes. The Swiss rider won the 44th edition of the Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa in a sprint finish ahead of Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal – Quick-Step). The Frenchman attacked on the final climb and caught soloist Pavel Sivakov (UAE). However, he couldn't drop Hirschi. The two then worked together to prevent pursuer Lennert van Eetvelt (Lotto – Dstny) from catching up. In the sprint, Hirschi timed his move perfectly to overtake the usually strong sprinter Alaphilippe. Prior to the sprint, ten riders had dominated the race, including German Ben Zwiehoff (Bora – hansgrohe).
