Raffle: The Rocky Mountain Fusion Powerplay e-mountain bike is a versatile e-hardtail from the Canadian brand Rocky Mountain that is suitable as a fun companion for off-road rides as well as for everyday use. It has the Dyname 4.0 drive and a powerful 720 Wh battery. The modern aluminum frame offers interesting details and a sleek look. As a real highlight, we are giving away the Rocky Mountain e-bike including an SKS Universal Infinity luggage rack.
E-MTB hardtails offer advantages such as lower weight, less maintenance and a unique riding experience. Although the low power loss when pedaling is less relevant with an E-MTB, E-hardtails such as the Fusion Powerplay have their place and offer a lot of riding fun.
Technically, the Fusion Powerplay impresses with its Dyname 4.0 drive, which delivers 108 Nm of torque, both powerful and sensitive. The display integrated into the top tube is easy to read and allows for adjustment of the support levels. An optional range extender can increase the battery capacity to over 1.000 Expand Wh.
The geometry of the frame is designed for a 120 mm suspension fork, which makes the bike suitable for off-road use, although the focus is more on everyday use. The Fusion Powerplay is available in five frame sizes, including XS, which makes it suitable for smaller riders.
Available in two equipment variants, the RRP of the higher-quality version is 4.700 euros. The equipment includes a RockShox 35 Gold suspension fork, a Shimano 12-speed gear system and an in-house dropper post. The built-in Shimano MT4100 brakes and Maxxis Rekon tires are, however, designed more for everyday use than for off-road use.
In our practical test, the Fusion Powerplay proved to be a well-balanced e-hardtail that particularly impressed in everyday use and on tours. Thanks to its geometry and dropper post, it's suitable for off-road riding, although the brakes and tires quickly reach their limits. The quiet and powerful drive system is especially commendable, offering a natural riding feel and making the bike's less elegant appearance less noticeable.
The fact that the Canadians envision the new e-hardtail for everyday use is evident from the mounting points for mudguards or racks, which can be easily and elegantly retrofitted. For our giveaway, we've secured a special highlight: an SKS Universal Infinity rack, which we've already installed on the bike.
SKS Infinity Universal Luggage Rack
The Infinity Universal is a versatile aluminum luggage rack that can be retrofitted to almost any bike. A flexible adjustment mechanism allows the rack to be individually adjusted in terms of inclination and height, which enables optimal adaptation to different bike geometries. The quick-release system with robust nylon straps ensures uncomplicated and secure installation on the seat stays.
A highlight of the SKS luggage rack is the AVS adapter plate, which allows bicycle bags to be easily attached using an AVS adapter. The luggage rack can carry up to 12 kg. It also offers enough space for a top bag or up to two side bags. Made from sturdy aluminum and supplied with a Torx key for assembly, the SKS Infinity Universal luggage rack stands for quality and durability, "Made in Germany".
