Cycling: Tadej Pogacar has also won the final time trial of the Tour de France. The Slovenian was unbeatable in the battle against the clock in Nice. In addition to the overall victory, he is also celebrating his sixth stage victory.

Pogacar takes his 6th stage win
It's official: Tadej Pogacar (UAE) is the overall winner of the 2024 Tour de France. The Slovenian also won today's time trial, securing his sixth stage victory. On the 33,7-kilometer, very demanding course from Monaco to Nice, the man in the yellow jersey was 63 and 74 seconds faster, respectively, than Jonas Vingegaard (Visma – Lease a Bike) of Denmark and Remco Evenepoel of Belgium. This marks Pogacar's third Tour de France win, following his victories in 2020 and 2021. Having already won the Giro d'Italia in 2024, he has now achieved the Giro/Tour double, a feat last accomplished by Italian Marco Pantani in 1998.
Buitrago takes 10th place from Ciccone
Alongside Tadej Pogacar (UAE) on the Tour de France podium are Jonas Vingegaard (Visma – Lease a Bike) and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick-Step). Only one change occurred in the top ten of the overall standings during today's time trial. Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain – Victorious) overtook Giulio Ciccone (Lidl – Trek) for tenth place . Derek Gee (Israel – Premier Tech) can be considered the biggest surprise of the Tour de France . The Canadian rode sensationally to ninth place overall.
Girmay wins the points classification
Besides dominant Tadej Pogacar (UAE), other professionals can be very satisfied with their performance at the 111th Tour de France. One of the biggest winners is certainly Mark Cavendish (Astana). The Briton won his 35th Tour stage, making him the sole record holder. This was very likely his last Tour de France. The green jersey goes to Biniam Girmay (Intermarché – Wanty), who thus made African history. Richard Carapaz (EF Education – EasyPost) is delighted to win the polka dot jersey. Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick-Step) is the best young rider. The team classification goes – completely convincingly – to UAE Team Emirates.
