Large selection of tools and a very elegant finish: Lezyne Super SV-23 mini tool in the test

Lezyne Super SV-23 mini tool in the test

Test mini tools: The Lezyne Super SV-23 mini tool combines a large selection of tools with a very elegant finish. No fewer than 23 functions are available for quick repairs on the go. This also includes the integrated tubeless tire repair kit, which even includes tire plugs. Given the well-known good quality of Lezyne products, there should be no reason for criticism - or should there be?!

Lezyne Super SV-23 mini tool: construction and processing

The Lezyne Super SV-23 is one of the finest and highest quality products in our large test series. The tools, made of stainless steel, are held together by a frame with CNC-milled aluminum side panels. The length of the individual tools is dimensioned so that they lie head to head and do not overlap, which means that a low overall height can be achieved. But it's not just the finish that is impressive, but also the selection of tools. You don't have to do without a complete set of Allen keys, as well as Torx keys, a 9 to 12-fold chain tool and spoke keys. There are also two wrenches, a bottle opener, a disc straightening tool, a brake pad spreader and a Quick Link chain lock holder. Completed with a TL tire plug kit including plugs, nothing is left to be desired.

handling

What is noticeable is the somewhat loose fit of the individual tools. This can of course be corrected using the fastening screws, but requires two additional Torx wrenches of the same size - and with a new tool there shouldn't actually be any need for action in advance. Due to its width, the Lezyne mini tool doesn't really fit well in the hand, and the elevations at the end of the side panels also make it uncomfortable to grip. What we also don't like is the nose of the bottle opener sticking out when folded. Most repairs can be carried out using the integrated tools, but doubts arise here too. This is particularly evident with the Torx T10, which was much too soft and suffered damage surprisingly quickly. This shouldn't be the case and it's really annoying! However, we really like the tubeless tire repair kit on the Super SV-23, which even includes tire plugs.

The design and selection of tools are absolutely inspiring. The TL tire plug kit, the disc straightening tool and the brake pad spreader are particularly worth highlighting when it comes to tools. This means that the Super SV-23 does not stand out from all, but from many other mini tools in our test series. However, the Torx T10 key, which is far too soft, is a cause for concern, which significantly lowers the overall rating of the tool. The feel also gives reason for criticism. A nice tool that unfortunately has some weaknesses.
