Pogacar celebrates second victory within 24 hours

Giro Dominator Tadej pogacar (UAE) just can't help it. The Slovenian did it again – and won. After his hussar ride in the time trial yesterday, the two-time tour winner also decides the 152-kilometer eighth stage of the Giro d'Italia from Spoleto to Prati di Tivo. His UAE Team Emirates controlled the breakaway group of 14 men throughout the day. It tried in the last few kilometers Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain – Victorious) with an attack several times, but the Slovenian did not let go. He then started his usual irresistible final sprint and gave the competition no chance. With this he celebrates his third daily victory at this year's Giro d'Italia. Complete the podium for today's stage Daniel Martinez (Bora – hansgrohe) and Ben O'Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale).

Geschke & Steinhauser in the breakaway group

Many teams started today's eighth stage of the Giro d'Italia with the hope of being able to achieve success through a breakaway group. Among other things, the two Germans also met George Steinhauser (EF Education – EasyPost) and Simon Geschke (Cofidis) went on the offensive. There were also first-class international mountain riders, such as Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal – Quick Step), Nairo Quintana (movistar), Romain Bardet (dsm-unternehmenich PostNL) and Michael Storer (Tudor). That I Tadej pogacar (UAE) but also thought today that he would like to win this stage, his UAE team Emirates followed behind throughout the day and thus made a breakaway coup impossible. The Frenchman was the last driver in the former leading group Valentin Paret Peintre (Decathlon – AG2R La Mondiale) 4,0 kilometers from the finish. At least I could Simon Geschke collect some points for the mountain classification.

Tadej Pogacar is very superior to his rivals, but he is valid with no attack and confidence in the sprint.
