Raffle: Win an Abus Cliffhanger or Hidrop Helmet

14 May 2024 by Florian Nowak

Abu's cliffhanger

Raffle: The German manufacturer Abus has long stood for quality and innovation in the field of bicycle safety. These include the Abus helmets, which are worn by the most internationally successful athletes across a wide range of disciplines. With the Abus Cliffhanger and the Abus Hidrop, we have two modern helmet options in our program for all bikers who like to accelerate downhill. Together with Abus we are giving away either one of three Cliffhanger Mips or one of two Abus Highdrop helmets.

With the Abus Cliffhanger, a premium half-shell model has been developed that is specifically aimed at demanding enduro riders. In close collaboration with industry legends such as freeride icon Richie Schley, a helmet was created that not only meets the highest safety standards, but also sets new standards in terms of comfort and design.

About three years ago, the Abus development team began the challenge of creating a worthy successor to the successful Montrailer performance model. The cliffhanger should not only appeal to enduro riders and singletrack enthusiasts, but also meet the high standards of the Gravity team. The result is a helmet that impresses with its lightness and robustness and at the same time offers added safety.

Driver safety is always top priority at Abus. Therefore, the shell of the Cliffhanger in the back of the head area has been significantly extended compared to the previous model to ensure optimal protection. The proven Acti-Cage structural reinforcement in the EPS core also ensures stability and safety.

A helmet not only has to be safe, but also comfortable, especially on fast descents. Here the cliffhanger scores points with a plastic full ring that surrounds the head and can be individually adjusted using the Zoom Ace system. A practical feature is the PonytailOutlet, a recess between the adjustment system and the bottom edge of the helmet that offers space for long hair or a braid. The chin strap can be individually adjusted using the newly developed TriVider system and can be closed quickly and practically thanks to the Fidlock closure system.

Eight air inlets at the front and six air outlets at the back of the helmet ensure optimal ventilation. The height-adjustable visor not only offers protection from sun and rain, but also creates space for goggles when going downhill. In addition, the well-known MIPS system is integrated in six color variants.

The Abus Cliffhanger is available in sizes S, M and L and complies with DIN EN 1078 certification. Weighing only 360 g (S), 380 g (M) or 410 g (L) - or 30 g more with MIPS models - it is a lightweight among enduro helmets. The color selection ranges from classic black and gray to trendy colors such as Iced Mint and Wildberry Red.

Abus Hidrop

For anyone who is looking for a full-face helmet and wants to plunge into the downhills with the best possible protection, Abus offers the Hidrop, a suitable addition to the cliffhanger.

The HiDrop is also the result of intensive collaboration with the team riders and has been tested on the most demanding trails in the world. From the Enduro World Series to the Crankworx World Tour to the Downhill World Cup, this helmet has proven itself on the biggest stages. It offers reliable protection according to international standards and meets a variety of safety standards, including ASTM F1952, ASTM F2032, EN1078, CPSC and AS/NZ. Its durable ABS outer shell offers exceptional impact resistance, while the EPS and EPP core provides additional cushioning to provide the best possible protection in the event of a fall.

Breathable, insertable cheek pads ensure that you keep a cool head even on strenuous descents and can fully concentrate on the riding experience. The HiDrop also features a break-away visor that detaches from the helmet in the event of a fall to prevent the head from being thrown back or the visor breaking. This provides additional neck protection and increases safety on the trail. The double D-ring buckle system ensures that the helmet fits securely and comfortably and does not come loose.
