Quad Lock Universal Bicycle Kits: Quad Lock confidently touts their system as the best adventure case in the world. Is that the case? We looked at the universal kits with the Out-Front Pro and stem mount.
One thing must be said straight away. The Quad Lock and SP Connect systems that we also tested are very similar. But who came first? Clearly, it was Quad Lock, who had been offering a holder for the first iPhone since 2011. Since then, the system has been continuously expanded and offers solutions for applications such as motorcycles, golf, desks and of course bicycles.
Twist Lock or MAG?
Mounting the Out-Front Pro and stem mount is completely unspectacular. The small included operating instructions are not really needed. For the Out-Front Pro mount, all you have to do is screw the unlocking mechanism, which is made of high-quality plastic, onto the holder milled from aluminum. The unit is then screwed to the handlebars with another screw and the appropriate plastic ring. The scope of delivery includes rings for 22mm and 25,4mm handlebars, without a ring the mount works for 31,8mm handlebars. A special highlight: the unlocking lever can be purchased in different colors.
The stem mount can be used very flexibly thanks to O-rings and cable ties, both of which are included in the scope of delivery. This means that the bracket can be attached not only to the stem, but also to the handlebars or top tube. For the latter application, a flat bar adapter is also required; this is glued in to compensate for the trough.
In addition to the special cases, Quad Lock offers two different universal adapters on the smartphone itself. In addition to the classic twist lock mechanism adapter, a MAG adapter can also be purchased. The latter represents a further development of the Twist Lock and supplements the mechanism with magnetic forces. This means that the smartphone can easily be attached to metal surfaces in everyday life. Both universal adapters are attached directly to the device or a case with a smooth surface using 3M adhesive tape.

Sleek and minimalist design
In use, both mounts meet their expectations. Handling is simple and uncomplicated, so the smartphone can be quickly connected with a twisting movement. The smartphone can be mounted in portrait or landscape format. To release the connection, the release lever must also be operated. No matter whether on asphalt or trail, the device stays firmly and securely in place at all times. The positive impression is rounded off by the slim and minimalist design.
