Fast, uncomplicated and massive: NC-17 CONNECT 3D universal holder

April 10, 2024 by Michael Wahl

NC-17 CONNECT 3D universal holder in the test: As a German craft business, NC-17 has been producing high-quality bicycle parts for over 30 years. With your CONNECT series you try to optimize the optimal and safe carrying of smartphones on your bike.

The 3D universal holder was compared to the 3D one-click mount holder Not only designed for use in light terrain, but also for demanding mountain bike tours. The focus is on a compact design, stability and low weight. Before you buy, you should think about one of the three mounting options, because the mount is available in two different versions for the handlebars and also for the ahead cap. In our test we looked at the classic handlebar assembly.

NC-17 CONNECT 3D – Gradual fixation

Installing the NC-17 CONNECT 3D mount is simple, self-explanatory and requires no tools. In the first step, the holder is attached with one of the three included soft pads. The adapter is then screwed into the ball socket. So that the smartphone fits into the holder, 3 different spacers made of foam rubber are included in the delivery. The corresponding spacer must be glued in before the smartphone can be inserted into the holder. To fix it, the locking device must be activated. This retracts gradually and at the end you have to grab the smartphone at every corner. Basically, smartphones including a case with a thickness of up to 12,5mm can be inserted into the holder.

Quick removal of the smartphone

The NC-17 CONNECT 3D universal mount withstood our single trail test tour. The smartphone was held firmly and securely on the handlebars the entire time. We also liked the fact that the fixation only covers the corners of the display minimally. The controls on the side were also freely accessible. Aligning the holder can be easily accomplished by loosening the fastening screw; the holder can be rotated 360 degrees. Removing the smartphone is also worth mentioning, as the gripping arms pop open after pressing the unlocking switch and the device can be removed straight away.
